Hello gorgeous girls!

The final post of my Perth series is here!

In this post, I talk about how I spent my weekend stay in Perth. If you haven’t already read the first 2 posts, check them out here before you proceed: Part 1 and Part 2.

So I was in Perth only for a short stay. I remember flying out of Melbourne on early Friday morning and having quite a bit of turbulence on the way there, I knew this was going to be an adventure: D The realization really hit me when we were within an hour of landing in Perth and I saw glimpses of turquoise water from the airplane. This is one moment that is now etched in my memory forever, the sight was just breathtaking to see from air.

Landing in Perth was quite exciting, as going to a place you have never been before, always is. I saw rolling hills around the airport area which is so different to landing in a city like Melbourne or Sydney.

I checked-in at the Duxton and while I was at the reception desk, I met the Irish team (In Perth for International rules AFL) who were also checking in at the same hotel. So cool. 😉 Oh and did I mention, the view from my room. It blew my mind. Wow, Perth! What a first impression you have made.. 🙂

That evening, I took some time out to explore the CBD area. The Twilight Hawkers Market was on that night so I knew I had to check it out. I spent the night, just exploring the shopping precinct around Forrest Place and then headed to the Market to enjoy some good food and music. This was a great way to ease into the holiday and explore a new city. I walked around quite a bit that night and it was lovely to see how people in Perth enjoyed their city. Personally, I felt Perth had such a cozy feel to it and it was certainly a good change from the busy crowded Melbourne streets.

Next day, I was up bright and early. The sleep that night was amazing, thanks to Duxton for their comfortable beds and pillows. I then made my way down to the Bell Tower, I had pre-booked my cruise tickets to Fremantle. The plan was to cruise down to Freo and spend a few hours there exploring the area, and then cruise back to the city. And this is exactly what I did. I must mention that the cruise was a great experience as it allowed me to see Perth from the river and also gave me a great insight on the history of Perth. I really enjoyed the commentary from the captain and it was nice to sit back, relax and enjoy a glass of wine all the while taking in the great views from the deck and the beautiful Western Australian sun.

If you’re interested in doing a day trip to Freo, leave a day to fully explore the area..

Cruise Company: Captain Cook Cruises, Perth. I went with the Freo Explorer cruise and it costed me $38 for a return trip. My verdict – definitely worth it. 🙂

Some of the places I visited while in Freo: Freo Market (must-see!), the round house, Shipwreck galleries, town area, Freo Pier, Freo Beach, Pier Market.

My Favourite Moments: Cruising with a glass of vino, getting lost in Freo without a map, discovering amazing sights (see pictures) unintentionally, lazing around on Freo Pier with a box of macarons from the Freo Market, playing Freo Hippie for a day haha.

And here are the pictures from that day:

Sunday was my day to sleep in, relax and take things as they come. I did not have any plans for the day as I was hoping to go by what I felt like doing that morning. The only thing I knew was I was going to catch up with a mate. So I did. Later, I spent the arvo lazing by the pool and then headed into the CBD area for a quick dinner that night.

Day 4 and it was already time to check-out! I headed to the airport. I found out that my flight was indefinitely delayed. I was stranded at the airport for 6 hours!! But it did not phase me at all. After all, what a great experience this was. Perth had exceeded my expectations in so many ways.

For closing comments, I do wish I went there for a bit longer. But this just means, I need to plan another Perth trip soon. I think 5-7 days would be an ideal amount of time to go to Perth if you’re currently planning a trip there. This is so you can cover places like Kings Park, Cottesloe and Scarborough beaches, Margaret river wineries, Swan valley, and many other places in and around Perth, which of course I couldn’t fit into 2 days. But nonetheless, a short holiday is better than no holiday and this was an amazing learning experience for me (for someone who had never taken a solo trip before). I am now so much more confident with traveling on my own, hanging out by myself and plan to do a lot more in future.

I just read and enjoyed your post on having a life vision and was going to leave a comment, but didn’t find where/how that could be done, so will leave one on this nice post instead. 🙂 Just wanted to say I’m a fan of visioning, too. Even created a workbook on the topic yrs ago. And I keep hearing people mention the Tony Robbins “doco”, so I’ll have to make a point of watching it.

As for vision boards, are you familiar w/ Mind Movies? You create them on your computer and they are like a vision board, but w/ movement, music and text/words/affirmations you add. Really cool. I put together several a number of yrs ago; you can check out 2 of them on one of my webpages down on the left-hand side, if you’re interested……..http://evolutionmadeeasier.com/products–services.html

Glad to see you enjoy yourself. I’ve never been to Perth but from your pictures, it looks amazing. I’m glad to have seen it through your eyes. I’m quite surprised to see you like my own blog I must say. From your blog, you wouldn’t have guessed that it would entice you. I hope you spend more time there.
